World Tuberculosis Day -2025: Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver
Students from various departments wholeheartedly participated in the campaign to eliminate Tuberculosis. Below is a brief report on the awareness activities conducted:
1. Fighting Tuberculosis Together: NSS Unit Takes Awareness to the Community
As part of the ongoing efforts under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, the NSS Unit of Dolphin PG Institute organized a special awareness lecture on 24th March 2025 at Sangam Public School, Dehradun for its 70 volunteers. The session was delivered by Dr. Ashwin Raturi, a renowned physician, who addressed the volunteers on the causes, prevention, and control of tuberculosis (TB). During the lecture, Dr. Raturi provided crucial insights into the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, an ambitious initiative launched by the Government of India with the goal of making the nation tuberculosis-free by 2025. He emphasized the seriousness of TB as a public health issue and elaborated on preventive strategies, early diagnosis, and the importance of completing the full treatment regimen. Following the informative session, the NSS volunteers actively participated in a tuberculosis awareness campaign rally. Taking their message directly to the community, they conducted a door-to-door awareness drive, educating residents about the symptoms of TB, available treatments, and the government’s efforts to combat the disease. The campaign concluded on a highly motivational and inspiring note, as volunteers shared their experiences and expressed a sense of fulfillment in contributing to a cause of national importance. The event not only deepened their understanding of tuberculosis but also strengthened their resolve to support public health initiatives. The day ended with the volunteers feeling empowered and committed to spreading awareness—an experience that was both enlightening and rewarding.
2. NCC Cadets Lead TB Awareness Initiatives
The NCC cadets of Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical and Natural sciences visited the Anganwadi school at Nanda Ki Chowki on 6th March 2025 under the guidance ANO Lt. Rohit Maithani to interact with the Anganwadi workers, helpers, parents of the children and conduct an informative session on Tuberculosis (TB). The visit was not just educational but also an enriching experience for all of us. Lt. Rohit Maithani led an enlightening session where he explained various aspects of TB, including its symptoms, causes, and preventive measures. He detailed how TB affects the lungs and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. The session aimed to spread awareness among the participants in a simplified manner, making them understand the significance of health and hygiene.
Following the session, Under Officer Dhruv Sharma gave a motivational speech to inspire the participants , emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene to prevent diseases.
Sergeant Uplakshya also addressed the gathering, sharing encouraging words to uplift their spirits and instill confidence in them.
As part of the awareness program, Cadet Mehak Verma actively participated by explaining the disease in a way that was easy for the participants to comprehend. She aimed to create awareness about TB and its impact on health, urging the participants to take necessary precautions and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
After the informative session, the cadets engaged in fun activities with the children. They sang songs and danced together, bringing joy and laughter to all present there. The interaction with the children provided the cadets with a new perspective on life. It made them realize how fortunate they are to have access to resources that others might consider a luxury.
Overall, the visit to the Anganwadi school was an eye-opening and fulfilling experience. It gave them a chance to step into a different world, appreciate their privileges, and contribute towards a noble cause. The enthusiasm and happiness of the children left a lasting impact on their hearts, making this initiative a truly memorable one.
3. A Day of Awareness and Action: Tuberculosis Awareness Campaign
On the occasion of world TB Day on 24th March 2025, Department of Pathology conducted whole day awareness program as part of 100-day TB campaign by Govt. of India where students, teachers and admin staff were involved in the awareness programme. Day started with poster presentation competition for students, where students from all departments participated with great enthusiasm more than 30 posters were presented on this year’s TB Day theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver,”. Followed by an awareness rally by students and staff of DIBNS in the nearby Manduwala village with infographic posters and slogans students made villagers aware of National TB elimination program and on disease TB.
Afternoon program included a lecture on topic “Road Map to a TB free India” by Dr. VC REDDY, Associate Professor department of pathology where students, teaching staff and admin staff were in attendance Dr. Reddy informed that TB remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious killers. Each day, close to 3425 people lose their lives to TB and close to 30,000 people fall ill with this preventable and curable disease. The impact of TB extends beyond health, imposing severe financial burdens on affected families. He discussed in details about the diagnosis and treatment of the disease and also measures to be taken to keep the disease away. An enthusiastic Q&A session followed the lecture. Day’ s events concluded with prize distribution for winners of poster competition and appreciation of all volunteers and participants of the day’s awareness program.
