World Disability Day 2023

The Department of Physiotherapy celebrated “World Disability Day” on 2nd December 2023.To make this day memorable a special lecture by Dr.Ashish Negi , Assistant Professor,SRHU was organized.

Dr. Negi spoke on Disability in COPD. The programme began with a welcome speech by Dr. Deepti Warikoo (PT) HOD, Department of Physiotherapy DIBNS. Sapling was presented to welcome the guest. Faculty from physiotherapy department Dr. Richa Aggarwal, Dr. Keerty Mathur, Dr. Ashish Dev Gera, Dr. Diksha Bhatt, Dr. Nidhi Rawat, also attended the lecture.

196 students from BPT and MPT attendedf the lecture. Various aspects of COPD were elaborated by the speaker with the recent research, treatment and rehabilitation methodologies used. Disability in COPD was discussed with hospital and home rehabilitation. Lecture went on smoothly and multiple questions were answered satisfactorily by the speaker.
Master’s students Garima and Bhoomi gave a presentation on the topic “Breaking Barriers :Inspiring success stories of differently abled”.

A slogan competition was also organized in which 16 students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Theme of the slogan competition was “celebrating ability beyond disability”. Dr.Ashish Negi, and all faculty members were the judges of the event.

Ankit from BPT 2nd year got first prize,Mohit from BPT 3rd year and Riya Gurung from BPT 2nd year got second prize ,Anjali from MPT 1st year and Krishna from BPT 3rd year were awarded third prize and Amna from BPT 4th year and Vishal from BPT 3rd year got consolation prizes. All the winners received cash prizes.

To energise the students a melodious motivational group song was sung by students. Total 220 students attended the event.

In addition to the lecture, a physiotherapy camp was also organized in the college OPD in which 18 patients received free physiotherapy services.

Dr .Deptee Warikoo (HOD),Dr. Keerty Mathur, Dr.Richa Agrawal, Dr. Ashish Dev,Dr.Diksha Bhatt and Dr.Nidhi Rawat were present t the camp.

Overall it was a great day which motivated our future physiotherapists to work for the specially disabled.
