Horticulture is a branch of Agricultural Science which deals with fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants along with post-harvest management. The definition of horticulture in the context of farming and gardening , is the practice of scientifically producing, cultivating, selling, and using high-value, closely tended crops in an environmentally friendly and long-lasting way.
M.Sc. Horticulture is a two-year postgraduate degree program that equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in horticulture, enabling them to contribute to sustainable agricultural development. Its course objectives include advance knowledge, research skills, critical thinking, sustainability etc.

Future Prospects
The scope of horticulture lies in the fact that it has been instrumental in advancing empowerment through job opportunities in activities like growing mushrooms, cultivating flowers, fruits producing vegetable seeds, and plantation crops. Horticulture professionals may work in a variety of settings, from private gardens and nurseries to public parks and botanical gardens. They may also work in agricultural production, propagation and nursery management, landscape design or food science and processing. There are three major specialization namely Floriculture, Olericulture and Pomology.
