B.Sc. (Hons./ Hons. with Research) BIOTECHNOLOGY

Biotechnology can be considered as one of the main branches of life science because it incorporates several disciplines and has numerous applications in the recent years. Such a biotechnology process consists of manipulating and improving animal, plant and microbial populations and species, in terms of quality and quantity, with the help of biological tools and scientific techniques with the aim of creating new processes and products for health, environment, agriculture and industry.
B. Sc. Biotechnology is a three-year Undergraduate course. It offers the students’ knowledge on biological sciences and the skills to apply the knowledge in biotechnology. Thus, this program is a cross-disciplinary field that combines biology and technology to address various issues. In biotechnology, one is trained in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and bioinformatics among other things. B.Sc. biotechnology graduates are able to identify and address issues in the biotechnology sector. We endeavour to offer the students an education that is relevant in the modern world, and at the same time, foster academic as well as personal growth. There are numerous fields to choose from in one’s career path, including bioprocessing, biomanufacturing, agriculture, biomedicine, and bioremediation among others. It has received much interest due to its promising novelty, thus making it a basic aspect of current scientific developments.
