A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is an undergraduate degree that one pursues in preparation to become a teacher. It’s a professional course designed to enable future teachers with the ability, skills, and knowledge needed for effective teaching. The program usually runs for two years, in which there will be a theoretical part and a practical approach. The B.Ed curriculum also involves learning a broad set of subjects, which encompass educational psychology, teaching methodologies, classroom management, curriculum development, and assessment techniques. More specifically, students learn about the incorporation of technology in education, inclusive education practices that tend to reach diverse needs during the learning process, as well as pedagogical training through specializations in science, mathematics, social studies, and language streams. It integrates practical experience into the program, and through a student-teaching internship or practicum, students can be hands-on in real classroom settings. This would allow a practicing teacher to use the theory learned, practice classroom management, and even develop their understanding of the day-to-day job responsibilities of the educators. In many countries, becoming a teacher for both the primary and secondary level requires having a B.Ed degree. This helps ensure that teachers are well-prepared to create a productive learning environment and help contribute to the academic and personal development of their students.

The B. Ed. Programme will be of four semesters spread over two years duration (100 working days per semester exclusive of the period of admission and examination).

Candidates with at least 50% Marks (for General and OBC Category Candidates and 45% marks for SC and ST Candidates), B.Tech & MBA / MCA with 55% marks, either in Bachelor Degree and /or in Master Degree or any other Qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme. A candidate for admission to B. Ed. course in the Faculty of Education has either to appear in the B.Ed Entrance Examination conducted by the H. N. B. Garhwal (A-Central) University or CUET or any other entrance exam conducted by the state govt: or a candidate can directly take admission on Marks basis, for that academic year. The candidates will be admitted strictly in accordance with the merit secured at the entrance examination, keeping in view the rules in force in respect of the statutory reservation of seats under various categories of candidates.
