Awareness in Autism

Department of Physiotherapy, Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences organised a special lecture under the MOU with LATIKA on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April 2024. . The title of the lecture was, ‘AWARENESS IN AUTISM’. The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Rupa Bishnoi, Director of inclusion program, Wabi-Sabi and Mrs. Aditi Bhatt, Inclusion Coordinator. By delving into the challenges and opportunities presented at different stages of life, the lecture focussed to foster greater awareness, collaboration, and inclusion within the autism community and society at large. Mrs. Bishnoi explained that in addition to the academic agenda at Latika, cultural activities have been customised to the interests of children with autism, providing them with a nurturing and inclusive environment to thrive and express themselves. 102 students from the Department of Physiotherapy attended the lecture. The entire faculty were present during the event. Students asked questions about the role of physiotherapist, caregiver, speech therapist and vocational rehabilitation team in managing the specially abled children. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Deptee Warikoo, HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, DIBNS.
