Department Of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Chemistry
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry was established in 2003 with a programme of M. Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry. M. Sc Chemistry was introduced in 2007. Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Chemistry was established following merging of two programs. Department has highly qualified and dedicated extensive expertise faculties and well equipped laboratories and classrooms. The curriculam of the department is based on National Education Policy-2020 which provides Major core courses (MCC), Minor Courses (MC), Multidisciplinary courses (MDC), Ability Enhancement Courses (AECs), Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs), and Value-Added Courses (VACs)to the students. The department now offers programs in B. Sc Chemistry (Hons) with Research, M. Sc Chemistry and M. Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry Programmes with Me-Me. The program for UG and PG includes project-based learning and internship modules. Well equipped research facilities in the laboratory of the department provide students to gain extensive knowledge in the concern field. Students can choose from a variety of research fields offered by the department, including analytical chemistry, green chemistry, synthetic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, herbal remedies, and environmental chemistry. Curriculam and mode of teaching is designed with slow, average and advanced learners in mind. The faculties also conduct remedial class for slow learners and provide study materials for each student. Faculties of the department has published more than 150 research publications books and chapters with the students in national and international journals of high repute. Faculties of the department are involved in Ph. D supervision from the different universities. The department is working on several government-funded projects worth lakhs, including those from DSIR, NMPB, ICFRE, UCOST and USERC. The Department contains a central library with a vast collection of books and periodicals, in addition to a departmental library. The Department organizes workshop, seminars, training, Industrial/Government laboratories/Institutes visit and co-curricular activities regularly. Department is actively engaged in MOUs and collaborations with different research organizations for enhancing the knowledge of the student with academic information, scholarly information, materials, publications, organize joint workshops, seminars, trainings to promote and carry out doctoral programmes, collaborative research and academic activities. Placements of students are main feature of the department. Department provides 100 % placement with lucrative packages for the students in the field Pharmaceuticals (Dr. Reddy Laboratories, Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited, Torrent Pharmaceutical Limited etc, Chemicals (Lupin, Nector Lifesciences, Verdhman Chemtech, Merck, Rankem etc), Oil & Petroleum (ONGC, Reliance, Indian Oil Corporation etc), Herbal Drug Industries (Patanjali, Dabur, Himalaya etc), Government organizations /Research Oragnization (ISRO,ONGC, DRDO, ARS, TRDDC, CSIR etc), food and beverage industries (Hindustan Unilever Limited, Nestle etc), cosmetics (VLCC, P & G etc), mineral extraction firms, clinical establishments and many more. Students get benefited for the preparation of NET/Gate/ Ph. D exams with the mentorship of faculties to qualify the exams. The department consistently achieves 100% passing result throughout the year. Many students bagged University gold medal for scoring highest marks in University examination.
